Gina Trapani's "The Case Against Drop-down Identities" is one of those blog posts that I have googled for, and passed around to colleagues many times before and after long meetings on the nature of online identity. It mostly focuses on what it means to ask for people's gender these days.

In a lot of ways, this piece puts a number of the other fields we are 'required' to fill out for our identities in to question.
