The New York Times Magazine published a great list of well-known people talking about memorable or life-changing educational experiences they’ve had.
I like the writing and find it inspiring, but what I like more than that is that the idea itself. I feel like I too have had many influential educational experiences, and that mine are worth writing down, though not because I really want to share them with others, but because I want to remember them, describe them and learn from those experiences. I am saving this idea for a future blog post.
The piece in the Times Magazine reminded me of a piece that recently published on Rookie, a new site for teenagers, on starting off the school year. I really loved this piece. It is also full of well-known people writing about their school experiences – though some of the stories were not nearly as ideal as those represented in the Magazine.
