The Simpsons Movie

This weekend I, like so many other Americans, piled in to see The Simpsons Movie. I rarely get out to see a film in the theaters. I see probably 4-5 movies in a year! So you may be asking me why this movie? …I am asking myself the same thing. (more…)

Hitotoki

Hitotoki | hee toe toe key - I am hoping that I will find the time to put together a small story for this writing project. Due 8/31 - via boredom.

A Quiet Identity

On Friday, as I was walking through the city, I kept seeing this truck, and it’s logo kept catching my eye. I am not sure if I kept seeing this particular truck, or separate trucks making deliveries, but this was the 3rd time It crossed my path, so I figured I had to pay attention.

I have an affinity towards industrial packaging and identity. I like how abstract it usually is. Much more so than most products in our daily view.

Draplin Design Co., North America

The guys at DDC keep a good blog, that I will surely follow. Say hello to that Gary character while there.

Field Notes

I am eagerly awaiting the release of FieldNotes into the wild. There have been a few floating around, as can be seen here. I am ready for a change.

MetroCards

NYC Transit MetroCard

Wouldn’t it be helpful, if our NYC Transit MetroCards had some identifying feature that changed each month? I can’t tell you how many times I have bought a monthly pass, and 5 seconds later, forgotten which card was the new one. Just give me one visual feature that distinguishes it from the previous. You would think that the MTA would have used them as part of their Art for Transit Program. It is probably the most ubiquitous opportunity for design that the MTA has, second to the subway system it self. I am adding this to the list of projects that I need to get done. In fact, I am emailing them right now.

The Items I Carry

Naz Hamid, a fantastic designer from Chicago started a flickr group called, “The Items We Carry.” The group is rapidly growing, and I am sure you’ll agree, it has a very interesting voyeuristic quality to it.

The Items We Carry are the small things we put in our pockets* or on our persons — the essentials we need to function daily at a basic level. - Naz

WordCampers

Well, camp is over, and all the campers have returned back to their nests. For those of you that missed out on the event, I would highly consider attending WordCamp 2008. There were around 400 men and women bloggers and developers in attendance over the course of the 2 day conference. It was great to witness the enthusiasm that everyone had for contributing to the WordPress community, and meet people who are passionate about blogging and free media. It reminded me of the reasons why I got hooked on the WordPress community from the start. (more…)

I am going to travel to Europe for my birthday this November.

Loving San Francisco!

WordCamp 2007

WordCamp 2007

This weekend off playing around in San Francisco. I am out here for WordCamp 2007, a blogging conference for bloggers and developers. On Sunday, I will be speaking about my work on the NYTimes.com Blogs.

I am really looking forward to get to meet all kinds of bloggers and developers, and learn about all the great assets that the WordPress community has been putting together. The main aspect that originally attracted me to WordPress was the community involvement factor. There are so many great people, working on design, plugins, and the overall usability of the platform.

Welcome!

I spend so much time building blogs for others that it only made sense that I have a blog of my own. This is going to be fun!
